I appreciate you thinking of using me for your real estate agent on the Alameda property and completely understand your final decision.
That said, I feel compelled to introduce you to a broker that I have used several time purchasing property in Alameda county. You’d certainly be doing yourself a favor at least interview him.
I first met Nolan Jones when he was working as a broker for Marcus & Millichap in Oakland in 2008. Since then I have had several transactions with him as my agent and I will tell you hands down, he’s the best.
The reason I say this is that Nolan puts the interests of his clients way before his. I can’t tell you the number of time something was not working in a transaction and Nolan was there keeping the parties aligned. The most recent example was in the sale of the apartment building I mentioned earlier. That sale closed in April after nearly 8 months of negotiations, inspections, etc. In August of this year I got a bill from PG&E for the property for over $1,300. They levied this bill against my house in Alamo even though it was generated by the property in Oakland, and they wouldn’t remove it!
I had no direct contact with the buyers, and in fact, Nolan only represented me in the deal, not both of us, but the buyer’s agent went completely silent and wouldn’t return calls or emails. He had nothing to gain in helping me get the buyers to pay this bill and it’s not likely that I will purchase more income property in Oakland or Alameda so the possibility of future business wasn’t an issue either. Nonetheless, Nolan fought with the buyers and finally got them to pay the bill. In short, I can’t say enough good things about his integrity, honestly, work ethic, and professionalism. These traits are hard to find in a person in any walk of life let alone in real estate.
I wish you the best in your sale and please call Nolan, you’ won’t regret it; his contact information is below:
